Yiwu – China’s Commodity Center and one of Sam's Exotic Travels

Yiwu (or Yi Wu), is located in central Zhejiang Province in the People's Republic of China. Located in the Province of Zhejiang, it is located 160 km south of the city of Hangzhou, the provincial capital, and 300 km away from Shanghai. Yiwu is a leading commodities center within China. It’s “China Small Commodities City Exhibition Center” is one of the largest exhibition halls in East China and local are major producers and wholesalers of arts and crafts; gifts and premiums; fashion accessories and home supplies and decorative articles for resale throughout China and the world. Founded in the Qin dynasty, some 2,200 years ago, it is located in a mountainous region and is home to 1 million people.

I visited Yiwu on the way to and from Pu Jiang County, as Yiwu has the closest train service from Guangzhou, during February 2006.

Click below to view my photo albums of Yiwu - all posted to Flickr!   Viewing albums on Flickr is a little tricky.  The easiest way is (1) open the set and then (2) choose Detail view  in the lower left corner.  This will open the set so you can see a larger thumbnail of each photo and its description.  If you do this, you can quickly view thumbnails and expand to see enlarged views for any and all pictures.  I would also appreciate any comments you might have and your vote for your favorite photos.

How would you like to upload your pictures while on a shoot and free up your media card without lugging your notebook computer around?
