| Sam's Exotic Travels to Taiyuan, Capital of Shanxi Province, ChinaTaiyuan is a prefecture-level city and the capital of Shanxi province, China. In 2006, the city had a population of nearly 3 million. One of the great industrial cities of China, it lies on the Fen River in the north of its fertile upper basin. It commands the north-south route through Shanxi, as well as important natural lines of communication through the mountains to Hebei province in the east and (via Fenyang) to northern Shaanxi province in the west.
While we flew into and out of Taiyuan, we had little time to see the many sights of the city during our December 08 visit. Most of the photos were taken near City Centre and in working class neighborhoods. People were wonderful - wish we had seen more. Click below to view my impressions.
