Shenzhen,  A China Success Story - One of Sam's Exotic Travels

Located across the border with Hong Kong, Shenzhen has grown from a small fishing village to a modern metropolis of over 12million, after the first Special Economic Zone in China was established there in 1978. It is a young city, vibrant and alive.  Shenzhen is the leading city in China for high technology manufacturing and new business ventures and is rapidly emerging as a transportation and logistics centre.

It is a short train trip (on the KCR) from my home in Tai Po and I have been a frequent visitor since I moved to HK. Since it is so close, my trips have been mostly for shopping and I have yet to see most of the sights and other tourist attractions. With the new building going on, the new Metro and the close ties to Hong Kong, Shenzhen is one of the fastest growing city I have seen in all of China.
