Seoul - Rooted Firmly in Korean Culture - One of Sam's Exotic Travels

Palace Grounds of Changgyong Palace, built in 1484 - Seoul Korea  The Squatter - Man waiting for palace gardens to open - Seoul Korea  Changing of the Guard - Seoul Korea Taehan Gate of Toksu Palace

Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is a modern city in every respect, yet rooted firmly in Korean history, with well-maintained palaces from earlier times giving testament to the high cultural history of this key Asian country.  I stopped over on my flight home in June 2005 and had one day to explore this historic city.  I hope my pictures do it justice.
