Sam's Exotic Travels to Sambura National Park, Kenya '07

Located in northeast Kenya, the rugged & remote Samburu District is too remote for most tour groups, but is an area of great diversity and beauty with abundant game. This was our first game safari, and even though it was the dry season, elephants, lions, giraffe and small game were found in abundance.

We also visited a Samburu village.  The Samburu are an ethnic group in north central Kenya that are related to but distinct from the Maasai. The Samburu are semi-nomadic pastoralists who herd mainly cattle but also keep sheep, goats and camels. Proud of their culture and traditions, the Samburu still cherish and retain the customs and ceremonies of their forbearers, unlike most other tribes in Kenya who have been influenced by Western civilization.

All photos below are posted to Flickr!  Viewing albums on Flickr is a little tricky.  The easiest way is (1) open the set and then (2) choose Detail view  in the lower left corner.  This will open the set so you can see a larger thumbnail of each photo and its description.  If you do this, you can quickly view thumbnails and expand to see enlarged views for any and all pictures.  I would also appreciate any comments you might have and your vote for your favorite photos.
