| Sam's Exotic Travels to Brunei, Abode of Peace, Island of Borneo, Southeast AsiaBrunei, although occupying less than 1% of Borneo's land area, is the only sovereign country on the island, which it shares with the Indonesian provinces of West, East, South and Central Kalimantan and the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak. With a land mass of 5.765 sq km, it has a lot of land for its 370,000 inhabitants. For those who are students of geography and ocean navigation, Brunei is located on the northern shore of the Island of Borneo, between longitudes 114'04 and 114'23; East and latitudes 4'00 and 5'05; North. My wife and I visited Brunei in May 2008 for a long weekend. It was a great trip, thanks to fellow Couchsurfer Judy Abdullah, who shared with us a first-hand glimpse of Brunei from a local perspective. It's always great to visit a new country and make new friends!
