Amarapura - Former Capital Near Mandalay & One of Sam's Exotic Travels

Located between Mandalay and the airport south of the city, Amarapura was capital of Myanmar until King Mindon built Mandalay and moved the capital there inside the walled fort. Now it is largely deserted, except for a large monastery which houses 1,000 monks. The famed U Bein's Bridge, a 150-year old bridge, made of  teak wood is nearby, a favorite photo place. The Lake, full after the summer rains, is dry part of the year. My timing was good - and weather was great.

  •  Amarapura Highlights - posted to Flickr! - Viewing albums on Flickr is a little tricky.  The easiest way is (1) open the set and then (2) choose Detail view  in the lower left corner.  This will open the set so you can see a larger thumbnail of each photo and its description.  If you do this, you can quickly view thumbnails and expand to see enlarged views for any and all pictures.  I would also appreciate any comments you might have and your vote for your favorite photos.
